Далее представлен материал об учёных и краеведах-любителях, которые занимались изучением географических данных, геологии, флоры, фауны, климата Городокского района.
Особо хочется отметить научную работу нашего земляка Дорофеева Анатолия Максимовича, доцента, кандидата биологических наук, 1-го проректора Витебского педагогического университета, профессора. Он родился в 1941 году в деревне Ложани. Окончил с золотой медалью СШ № 1 города Городка. Потом учился в Витебском пединституте имени С. М. Кирова. Работал на кафедре зоологии этого ВУЗа (зав. кафедрой, доцент). Является одним из создателей «Красной книги» РБ (издание 1993 года). Основные работы по орнитологии, охране природы, по исследованию фауны наземных позвоночных Белорусского Поозерья. Опубликовано 120 научных работ, 19 отдельных изданий.
Якушко Ольга Филипповна – географ, геоморфолог, лимнолог. Изучила ландшафты Белорусского Поозерья, озёра Белоруссии и историю их развития в голоцене, эродированность почв. Автор учебников для ВУЗов и средних школ, научно-популярных книг по природе Беларуси.
Шкляр Абрам Хаимович – географ и климотолог. Известны его работы по сельскохозяйственной климотологии, фенологии, охране природы, физической географии БССР, по мелиорации Полесья. Участвовал при составлении атласа БССР.
Юркевич Иван Данилович – геоботаник, фенолог, лесовод. Его работы посвящены изучению лесной, луговой и болотной растительности Беларуси,
фенологии. Разработал классификацию типов лесов РБ, один из составителей карты растительности республики.
Махнач Александр Семёнович – геолог, издал много работ в области геологии. Участвовал в открытии на территории РБ нефти, калийной и каменной солей, железных руд, горючих сланцев и других полезных ископаемых.
Горецкий Гавриил Иванович – геолог. Автор работ по геологии антропогена, экономической географии, один из составителей белорусского словаря.
Гельтман Виктор Степанович – геоботаник. Написал цикл работ по изучению растительного покрова Беларуси.
В этом разделе представлена деятельность краеведов-энтузиастов, самостоятельно ведших наблюдения за природой и оставивших нам дневники и различные записи. Период их деятельности велик: от предвоенного времени до наших дней.
В 1930 году в Городокском районе было образовано товарищество краеведения. Оно состояло из 68 человек. Его руководителем был Леонёнок Юрий Антонович, учитель, секретарём – Малахов Мирон Васильевич, директор Варховской школы.
Local historians and scientists who studied the area
The following is a material about scientists and amateur local historians who studied geographical data, geology, flora, fauna, climate of the Gorodok district.
I would especially like to mention the scientific work of our countryman Anatoly Maksimovich Dorofeev, associate professor, Candidate of Biological Sciences, 1st Vice-rector of Vitebsk Pedagogical University, professor. He was born in 1941 in the village of Lojani. He graduated with a gold medal from the Secondary School No. 1 of the city of Gorodok. Then he studied at the Vitebsk Pedagogical Institute named after S. M. Kirov. He worked at the Zoology Department of this university (head of the department, associate professor). He is one of the creators of the "Red Book" of the Republic of Belarus (1993 edition). The main works on ornithology, nature conservation, and the study of the fauna of terrestrial vertebrates of the Belarusian Lake district. 120 scientific papers, 19 separate editions have been published.
Yakushko Olga Filippovna is a geographer, geomorphologist, limnologist. She studied the landscapes of the Belarusian Lake district, lakes of Belarus and the history of their development in the Holocene, soil erosion. Author of textbooks for universities and secondary schools, popular science books on the nature of Belarus.
Shklyar Abram Khaimovich is a geographer and climatologist. His works on agricultural climatology, phenology, nature conservation, physical geography of the BSSR, and land reclamation of Polesie are known. Participated in the compilation of the atlas of the BSSR.
Yurkevich Ivan Danilovich - geobotanist, phenologist, forester. His works are devoted to the study of forest, meadow and swamp vegetation of Belarus,
phenology. He developed a classification of forest types in the Republic of Belarus, one of the compilers of the vegetation map of the Republic.
Makhnach Alexander Semenovich is a geologist, has published many works in the field of geology. Participated in the discovery of oil, potash and rock salts, iron ores, oil shale and other minerals on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
Goretsky Gavriil Ivanovich is a geologist. Author of works on the geology of anthropogenic, economic geography, one of the compilers of the Belarusian dictionary.
Geltman Viktor Stepanovich is a geobotanist. He wrote a series of works on the study of the vegetation cover of Belarus.
This section presents the activities of local history enthusiasts who independently conducted observations of nature and left us diaries and various records. The period of their activity is long: from the pre-war period to the present day.
In 1930, the Association of Local Lore was formed in the Gorodok district. It consisted of 68 people. Its head was Yuri Antonovich Leonenok, a teacher, and Miron Vasilyevich Malakhov, the director of the Varkhovskaya school, was its secretary.
